Brain Health Services
We are excited to announce that in December 2023 we launched a Brain Health Service in Aberdeen.
This innovative service is for anyone who might have concerns about their brain health, and is the first example in the UK of a brain health service that offers a drop-in, self-referral system.

What is a brain health service?
The Brain Health Service is a brand new service for Aberdeen. It has been set up to help people understand their own personal risk for the diseases that can lead to dementia. The service is to support people to reduce their risk of developing dementia.
The principles of a brain health service are:
Accurate Risk Profiling
Personalised Action Plan
Early Disease Detection
Who is it for?
The service is for anyone who might have concerns about their memory. Or for anyone who wants to find out more about reducing their risk of developing dementia in the future.

They might be referred to the service by their GP or another healthcare professional, but they don't need to have an appointment to attend. It operates a drop-in service so you can just turn up without booking ahead.
Setting up a Brain Health Service
Please get in touch if you are interested in setting up a Brain Health Service in your NHS Board, as we would be happy to help if we can.
Is there a Brain Health Service near me?
The Brain Health Service in Aberdeen has been set up as the first demonstrator site for Scotland. This means that it is testing and evaluating the service, with the hope that in the future it may be rolled out across Scotland.
